Am finally geting closer to the desired deep toned exhaust note. Used the drag pipe from Highway Hawk and a full size HD muffler with a 1/2" hole in the baffle. I cut the drag pipe off at the end of the baffle and then the HD muffler slid right inside the large head pipe. End of muffler is past the brake lever, when I tried this last winter, that was the problem, not enough length or turn out to miss the brake lever. Used a flat piece of 1/4 x 1 flat iron to mount the muffler to the orginal Savage bracket. Finally geting that deep tone I've been looking for. It is quiet when not pulling hard, but does sound great under a load when acclerating. Will run another couple days and then install my SuperTrapp on that longer & larger header and see what happens. The drag pipe is loud and did cause some low end throttle response loss. SO far 1st 3 gears give same indicated speed, but low end throttle response and smoothness is much better. I'll keep you posted. Max
